Fewer Shutdowns

Every avoided shutdown saves energy, emissions and product.

A shutdown and restart costs product, and burns energy while the unit treats nothing. Most forced shutdowns start as a slow fault nobody saw in time. The platform watches for those faults, warns earlier, and turns warnings into proactive maintenance.

01

Why shutdowns belong on this page

An unplanned stop means lost throughput, off-spec gas and a restart that burns steam. Reliability loss and lost throughput are two of the six consequences the platform prices, so a warning has a value, not just a colour.

02

Slow faults give the longest warning

Exchanger fouling, reboiler scaling, corrosion and filter plugging are fitted over three days and projected toward the point that would declare the fault. They make up almost half of all fault-hours, and they are the failures you can plan around.

03

Foaming, before the analyser sees it

In the plant-validated foaming study, the absorber and stripper pressure drops told the two foaming faults apart 40–75 minutes before the treated-gas analyser moved. The patterns matched three foaming episodes in the plant record.

04

Maintenance raised before failure

The Plan tool turns every fault with evidence into one work item, with its trigger and a named piece of equipment. In the case study, 64% of the work was raised before failure, mostly from condition monitoring and recurring faults.

What we can and cannot claim yet

  • Today only 16% of fault-hours carried a live warning at onset, below the 30–50% published for mature systems, because warnings lapsed before two of three testable episodes. We are adding warning latching and a longer look-back. A maintenance cost saving cannot be stated without a record of your current practice, and the platform does not replace your maintenance management system.

The slow faults are visible long before they stop the plant.
